Free CE: SC MIRECC CBOC Mental Health Grand Rounds Webinar Series
Over 3 million Veterans enrolled in VA live in rural or highly rural areas. To better serve these Veterans, the Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Mental Health (MH) Grand Rounds gives clinicians access to continuing education on the latest evidence-based practices, research findings, and emerging issues in mental health. We created this webinar series to support mental health education for clinicians in VA CBOCs and other areas of the country where access to training is limited. We have issued more than 24,000 continuing education credits through this series since November 2011.
The CBOC MH Grand Rounds is presented through Microsoft TEAMS communications software. VA and community clinicians can set aside one hour a month to participate in the webinars. Each monthly webinar is accredited for 1 free hour of continuing education credit through:
- Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (JA IPCE)
- Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME and ACCME-NP)
- American Psychological Association (APA)
- New York State Education Department State Board for Psychology (NYSED P)
- American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)
- New York State Education Department Social Work Board (NYSED SW)
- National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)
- Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
- Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC)
Registration and evaluation are completed through the VA Talent Management System (TMS) for VA clinicians and VHA TRAIN for community clinicians. Once all requirements for the webinar are met, learners can print their accredited certificate through TMS and VHA TRAIN.
We offer two opportunities to attend each monthly webinar. Mark your calendars to join us at 8:00 am CT on second Wednesdays OR 11:00 am CT on second Thursdays. In the coming months we will cover a broad spectrum of topics of interest to clinicians, including ethical considerations for discussing secure firearm storage, ethical considerations for using GLP-1 receptor agonists, couples therapy, and financial well-being for Veterans. We also offer accredited recordings of our past presentations at https://www.mirecc.va.gov/visn16/accredited-cboc-mh-grand-rounds-recordings.asp. One hour of continuing education credit is available for each recording. Email Ashley.McDaniel@va.gov for more information about the series, to join our mailing list, or to request materials. We hope you will join us!
CBOC MH Grand Rounds Seeking New Planning Committee Members
The CBOC MH Grand Rounds planning committee is searching for new psychiatry and psychology members. This national, multidisciplinary committee meets once a month using Microsoft TEAMS. Members oversee the webinar planning process by identifying topics, recommending speakers, and ensuring that each session adheres to accreditation board criteria. If you are interested in joining the planning committee or want more information, email Ashley.McDaniel@va.gov.
