Meet the New SC MIRECC Fellows
Alexis Childs, PsyD
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas.
Educational Background: I received my PsyD in clinical psychology from William James College in Massachusetts. I completed my predoctoral internship and a psychosocial rehabilitation fellowship at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System.
Research Interests: My research interests include moral injury, factors impacting engagement in PTSD treatment, and the use of ketamine for treatment resistant depression.
Mentors: My mentorship team includes Drs. Marci Weber, Brandon Griffin, Kate Dykhuis, and Sonia Singh.
Hobbies: I enjoy hiking and spending time with my four pets.
Joseph Tu, PhD
Location: Houston, Texas.
Educational Background: I received my PhD in clinical psychology from Eastern Michigan University and completed my clinical internship at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in Colorado.
Research Interests: I have studied treatment of PTSD and functional seizures. I am now interested in evaluating the quality of psychotherapy in VA community care.
Mentors: Drs. Natalie Hundt, Derrecka Boykin, Jeffrey Cully, Amy Amspoker, and Julianna Hogan.
Hobbies: I enjoy cooking seasonally and hosting intimate dinner parties with friends.
Other: I am looking to get into board games, so hit me up if you’re interested in playing!
