Community of Research
VA Mid-Atlantic MIRECC

Examining how military service, trauma, and neurological injury affect cognitive functioning in Veterans — with the goal of improving assessment, understanding, and treatment of neurocognitive conditions.

About this community

The Neuropsychology Community of Research (CoR) brings together investigators with expertise in neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, and rehabilitation to study how conditions such as PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and depression affect cognitive functioning in Veterans.

Our research spans cognitive assessment, rehabilitation, and the identification of neurocognitive markers that can inform diagnosis and treatment. We examine domains including attention, memory, executive function, and processing speed, and how deficits in these areas relate to real-world functioning and quality of life for those who have served.
