Biography
Biography: Dr. Luke Mitzel joined the CIH team as an Education and Implementation Specialist in the Education and Implementation core in May 2023. Dr. Mitzel is a licensed psychologist. He completed his graduate training at Syracuse University, where he earned his PhD in clinical psychology. He completed an APA-accredited predoctoral psychology internship at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, which included PCMHI, Evidence-Based Therapies, and sleep clinic rotations. He then completed a 2-year postdoctoral psychology fellowship with the Center for Integrated Healthcare at the Syracuse VA through the VA Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment program. Dr. Mitzel's interests include health behaviors and the prevention and treatment of chronic conditions, with a special interest in VA's Whole Health initiative as a novel approach to providing patient-centered care to increase patient engagement in their health and wellbeing. He also serves as a technical assistant in support of implementing Brief CBT-CP in integrated settings.
