MID ATLANTIC MIRECC

Improving the health of Veterans through effective PDMH Research at Mid-Atlantic MIRECC

The Mid-Atlantic (VISN 6) Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC) improves the quality of life, health and wellness of Veterans with post-deployment mental health (PDMH) related issues and its complex comorbidities by promoting our research findings and putting educational programs into practice. Opportunities to support veterans and their families occur in varied settings. We have partnered with local, state and national agencies and systems of care to engage veterans and their families in an effort to provide assistance with post-deployment readjustment and access to health care. By creating a "No Wrong Door" public health approach, educational materials are disseminated and access to informed clinical care is enhanced.

Clinical Core Mission: To facilitate the translation, implementation, and dissemination of post-deployment mental health research through consultation, clinical trainings, and program evaluation.

Consultation: The Clinical Core will serve as a consulting resource and may provide technical assistance to researchers, operations partners, and stakeholders who are interested in transferring research findings into the clinic.

Clinical Training: The Clinical Core will facilitate and support the development and delivery of clinical trainings focused on improving post-deployment mental health assessment and treatment.

Program Evaluation: The Clinical Core will improve post-deployment mental health care and inform policy decisions through careful evaluation of local, regional, and national operational data to evaluate program performance as well as opportunities to improve patient care.
