VISN 22 Education
The Education and Dissemination Unit provides the most current information related to mental health disorders and evidenced-based practices, especially as pertaining to severe mental illnesses. The goals of the unit are:- to disseminate the latest evidence-based practices and peer-reviewed mental health research to Veterans, family members and clinicians
- to address the education needs of VA clinicians in VISN 22, and
- to support the VA Office of Mental Health in the national implementation of evidence-based practices.

Education Products for Clinicians
Veteran Centered Brief Family Consultation Training Curriculum TMS (37314)
This four-hour course teaches clinicians the fundamentals of Family Consultation, a brief intervention in which the family meets with mental health professionals to resolve issues related to a patient's treatment and recovery. The course consists of five simple modules which include an introduction to Family Consultation, how to inform and engage Veterans in the intervention, how to inform and engage family members in the intervention, how to conduct Family Consultation sessions, and how to conduct the follow-up session.
Participants will learn how to explore ways of integrating Family Consultation into their clinical work and practice the procedures in role plays. This course is accredited for ACCME, ACCME-NP, ANCC, APA, ASWB, NBCC, NYSED SW.
Instructional Set (DVD/CD) - Veteran-Centered Brief Family Consultation
The DVD presents instructional and educational information about the core skills of Family Consultation, and the CD provides handouts and assessment tools commonly used in the intervention.
Instructional Set (4 DVDs/CD) – Behavioral Family Therapy (BFT) for Serious Psychiatric Disorders
