Our Education Core helps VA and community providers promote mental health and recovery among rural Veterans and other Veterans facing barriers to care. We provide training and educational products on a variety of topics for providers, advocates, and Veterans and their families.
Our clinical education products are free to the public and VHA clinical providers can earn 1 free hour of continuing education (CE) credit per month by joining our CBOC Mental Health Grand Rounds webinars. 12/16/2024 - VA clinicians have two chances to attend this SC MIRECC CBOC Mental Health Grand Rounds one-hour webinar for one free hour of continuing education (CE) credit. After the training learners should be able to:
- Define polypharmacy and recognize its significance in the mental health care of Veterans.
- Identify the risks of polypharmacy and its impact on patient outcomes.
- Recognize the role of mental health pharmacists in managing polypharmacy.
- Apply collaborative care strategies to optimize polypharmacy management in mental health treatment.

Clinical Educator Grant Program
This program helps VA clinicians and educators in VISNs 16 and 17 develop innovative tools that target rural, underserved, or hard-to-reach Veterans and their families or improve the health care delivery system. Applications must support our mission to promote equity in engagement, access, and quality of mental health care for Veterans facing barriers to care,especially rural Veterans. SC MIRECC National CBOC Mental Health Grand Rounds Webinars
This webinar series is held monthly on second Wednesdays from 8:00-9:00 a.m. CT and second Thursdays from 11:00-12:00 p.m. CT in Adobe Connect. The target audience includes mental health providers who work in VA community-based outpatient clinics, although medical center providers are welcome to participate. The rounds are accredited through the VA Institute for Learning, Education and Development (ILEAD). VHA and community clinicians can earn 1 free hour of CEU per each monthly session. Program for Advancing Cognitive disorders Education for Rural Staff (PACERS)
PACERS was developed to assist providers who are caring for patients with cognitive disorders in rural communities and also improve outcomes for Veterans and their caregivers. The curriculum includes accredited web-based modules in the VA Talent Management System and VHA TRAIN and videos for Veterans and their caregivers.
