Christina Shook, PhD
Education and Implementation Specialist
Biography: Dr. Christina B. Shook joined the VA Center for Integrated Healthcare (CIH) in June 2019 as an Education and Implementation Specialist in the Education and Implementation Core. She is the primary external facilitator for the National Peers in PACT Initiative, while also working on PCMHI implementation and education initiatives nationwide. Prior to her work with CIH, she held multiple organizational leadership roles in a private healthcare system within quality, behavioral pain medicine, funded research, and the strategic design, coordination, and expansion of integrated care into system-wide medical practices. Prior to her work outside the VA, Dr. Shook developed and lead the Lebanon VAMC's PCMHI program and Behavioral Health Consultation Liaison Teams, while collaborating on the development of interdisciplinary pain programs. Dr. Shook is an active member of various professional organizations including, American Psychological Association (Divisions 38 and 18) and AVAPL. She is a Board Certified Clinical Health Psychologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Health Psychology (AACHP), serving currently as President of the AACHP. She has been a mentor and supervisor to psychology and medical students for over 10 years, holding multiple academic appointments over the course of time. She received a Doctor of Psychology and Master of Science from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as a Master of Arts in Applied Clinical Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University. She completed a Medical Psychology Internship at the VA North Texas Healthcare System and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in PCMHI at the Salem VAMC.
