Bio: Steven D. Forman, M.D. Ph.D., trained at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC and at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh. He is certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in General Psychiatry, Addictions Psychiatry and Geriatrics Psychiatry.
He has been a staff physician with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs for 15 years, during which time he has served as medical director of the Center for Treatment of Addictive Disorders and the Opiate Substitution Therapy Clinic at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS). Dr. Forman is also Director of the MIRECC Neuroimaging Lab at VAPHS and is the Principal Investigator on several research studies.
Research Interests: Dr. Forman’s research interests involve cognitive and neuroimaging investigations of decision-making in addiction. Currently active projects include neuroimaging of decision-making and discounting in smokers, modulating food craving using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and treating resistant major depressive disorder with TMS.
