We offer a Clinical Research Elective rotation for psychology interns at the James J. Peters VAMC. The intern will have opportunities to conduct diagnostic and clinical assessments for research studies, serve as a study clinician for clinical trials, and be involved in scholarly activities. The intern will get training and experience administering standardized clinical interviews and rating scales, delivering manualized treatments, and producing scholarly work for presentation and publication. Examples of current studies include a randomized clinical trial of DBT for Justice-Involved Veterans, a pilot study of a blended psychoeducation and mobile health intervention targeting alexithymia to reduce suicide risk in Veterans with SMI, and a pilot study of a neurofeedback intervention to reduce suicide-specific rumination. For more information, please contact the JJPVAMC internship director Dr. Laura Pratchett at laura.pratchett@va.gov.
