MIRECC-Developed Resources

*NEW!* WEBINAR: Incorporating Pharmacogenomics into Your Clinical Mental Health Care Practice (slides)

If you would like to view a full recording of this April 2023 presentation, email our team.
Running time: 4 hours
Intended Audience: Providers

Pharmacogenomics, also called pharmacogenetics, is an emerging area of medicine focused on understanding how genes might affect individual responses to treatment or affect medication choice or dose. The purpose of this knowledge-based webinar is to inform healthcare teams on the current state of the evidence in understanding the value and interpretation of pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing in the management of patients with mental illness. Evidence from the national VA Precision Medicine in Mental Health Care (PRIME Care) study demonstrates a wide range of competence among providers that likely impacts the value and use of PGx testing among Veterans. The aim of this program is to provide an informed approach for the utilization of pharmacogenomic testing, including identification of patients where testing may be of greatest value, test selection, and interpretation of results, for providers treating Veterans with mental illness.
