Our affiliates in Houston, Little Rock, and New Orleans work hard to promote mental health education, research, and treatment locally and nationally. Here are some highlights of their accomplishments over the past three months.
Houston
- Dr. Jenn Bryan received IQuEST Mentor of the Year Award

Congratulations to Dr. Bryan for receiving the IQuEST Houston Mentor of the Year award for her work fostering community among fellows and being a dedicated mentor to IQuEST trainees.
- Dr. Derrecka Boykin Completes IQuEST Fellowship

Congratulations to Dr. Boykin, a current SC MIRECC Fellow, for graduating from the 2020 IQuEST Fellowship Program.
- Drs. Mark Kunik, Aanand Naik, and Barbara Trautner Received Grant on Dementia

Congratulations to Drs. Kunik, Naik, and Trautner who received news their grant “Care4AD: A Comprehensive Care Coordination and Management Platform for Alzheimer Disease and Related Dementias” has been funded 3 years for $2.7 million.
Little Rock
- Dr. Carolyn Greene Interviewed by UALR Public Radio on Mobile Apps for Mental Health Care

Dr. Greene was interviewed about her UAMS research study on the use of mobile apps to support mental health care, especially in rural states.
- Dr. Sacha McBain Received Pilot Grant on Digital PTSD Screening

Congratulations to Dr. McBain, a former SC MIRECC fellow, for receiving a UAMS Translational Research Institute biomedical informatics-focused pilot grant titled “Digital PTSD Screening and Intervention to Meet Rural Needs.”
- Dr. Sara Landes Presents on DBT at RM MIRECC Webinar Series

Dr. Landes presented an introduction to dialectical behavioral therapy and how to make better referrals for care at the Rocky Mountain MIRECC’s Clinical Practice Guidelines for Suicide Prevention Webinar Series in June.

- Dr. Amanda Raines Featured in APA Division 12 Newsletter

Dr. Raines discussed her research on prevention and treatment of emotional and stressor-related disorders, her training, and her membership in the division in the American Psychological Association Division 12 Newsletter.
- Dr. Gala True and Colleagues Published in Milbank Quarterly

Dr. True’s article “Measuring Community-Engaged Research Contexts, Processes, and Outcomes: A Mapping Review” (First Author T. M. Luger) was published in The Milbank Quarterly. The article argues for the value of community-engaged research and how it improves research quality and health outcomes.
