This fellowship is offered across our two primary facilities in Northern Colorado (Loveland) and Southern Wyoming (Cheyenne). Training sites include community-based rehabilitative programs including residential rehabilitation care, clinical case management, supported employment and education programming, housing and homeless programming, and acute care and crisis intervention programs for individuals struggling with mental illness and/ or substance abuse disorders, or homelessness. Fellows will develop individualized projects with close mentoring from faculty; projects may include program development and/or evaluation in areas such as employment and educational interventions, peer support, VA program evaluations, suicide prevention, and consultation with community partners.

Many opportunities exist for participating in ongoing collaborative research and scholarly writing. Applicants should have a strong interest in community mental health; Fellows will be undertaking innovative outcome-based work and facilitating the transformation of the national VA mental health care system from a traditional, hospital-based system to a community-based system whose focus is partnering with consumers within their natural environments to build their full recovery and community integration.
