Neuroimaging

Advancing the understanding of how military service and trauma affect brain structure and function — using neuroimaging to identify biomarkers, improve diagnosis, and inform treatment for Veterans with mental health conditions.
About this community
The Neuroimaging Community of Research (CoR) brings together investigators who apply advanced brain imaging methods — including structural MRI, functional MRI, diffusion tensor imaging, and magnetoencephalography (MEG) — to study the neural underpinnings of PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and comorbid psychiatric conditions in Veterans.
Our work examines how combat exposure, blast injury, and chronic stress alter brain circuitry and connectivity, and how these changes relate to symptoms, functioning, and treatment response. By linking imaging findings to clinical and genomic data, we aim to identify biomarkers that can improve diagnosis and guide personalized care.
