Dr. Lilian Dindo (first author) and colleagues published an article on their combination outreach and brief wellness intervention that showed improvement in mental health outcomes for hard-to-reach distressed rural Veterans in Journal of Behavioral Health Medicine. VA Research News Brief created a brief video on the paper, which was tweeted by Acting Deputy Secretary Pamela Powers. The team also created a visual abstract to detail the research (Co-authors: McKenzie Roddy, Derrecka Boykin, Ken Woods, Merlyn Rodrigues, Tracey L. Smith, Raquel Gonzalez, Gala True).

Drs. Ali Abbas Asghar-Ali and Jenn Bryan (first author: Richa Lavingia) published an article on elder abuse simulation in Academic Psychiatry. Dr. Tony Ecker(first author) and colleagues published an article in the Journal of Rural Health on factors impacting the implementation of the VA Coordinated Anxiety Learning and Management (CALM) program in rural community clinics (Co-authors: Traci Abraham , Lindsey Martin, Kathy Marchant-Miros, and Michael Cucciare).

Our Co-Director, Dr. Michael Kauth, has a new book, “The Evolution of Human Pair-Bonding, Friendship, and Sexual Attraction: Love Bonds.” It explores the history of romantic love, male-female pair-bonding, same-sex friendship, and sexual attraction, by drawing on sexuality research, gay and lesbian studies, history, literature, anthropology, and evolutionary science. He produced a short video describing the content.
