- If we miss your call, leave a message or email CoachingIntoCare@va.gov and we’ll return your call within one business day.
- Coaching is provided by licensed psychologists or social workers and it is completely free of charge.
- Calls generally last from 10 to 30 minutes depending on the situation. Some coaching requires more than one call, usually with the same coach.

Veterans Crisis Line
The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis — and their family and friends — with qualified, caring VA responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, text-messaging service, or online chat. The crisis line is available 24/7 by calling 988 and pressing 1, texting to 838255 or chatting online at VeteransCrisisLine.net/Chat.
Caregiver Support Line
The Caregiver Support Line directs family members who are caregivers of Veterans currently receiving VA treatment to supportive VA services and programs. Call 855-260-3274.
Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Program
VA offers a number of options for those seeking treatment for SUD. Treatment may be provided in an outpatient or residential setting, depending on each Veteran’s needs. Use this locator to find VA’s SUD treatment services in your area.
Use this locator to find PTSD-specific programs nationwide. In addition, all VA medical centers and many Vet Centers and VA community-based outpatient clinics offer PTSD treatment services.
VA Homeless Programs
The Homeless Programs Office connects Veterans who are experiencing or at risk for homelessness with housing solutions, health care, community employment services and other support. Call 877-424-3838 to reach the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans.
Vet Centers offer a wide range of mental health and social services to Service members, Veterans and their family members at 300 community-based locations. These services include readjustment counseling, which can facilitate a successful transition from military to civilian life as well as recovery after a traumatic event experienced in the military.
Veteran Justice Outreach Program
Specialists in this program provide direct outreach, assessment and case management for justice-involved Veterans in local courts and jails. These specialists serve as liaisons to justice system partners.
