- Bio: Dr. Haas is Director of the Pittsburgh Site of the VISN 4 Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC) at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS), Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Family and Psychosocial Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
- Dr. Haas is dedicated to research education and training and serves as Director (Psychologist Training Track) of the VA Advance Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment and Chair of the Research and Development Committee at VAPHS. She is also the Director of the NIMH-funded Undergraduate/Medical Student Fellowship Program in Mental Health Research.
- Dr. Haas is a nationally recognized clinical investigator in the areas of schizophrenia and psychotic disorders and suicidal behavior.
- Research Interests: Dr. Haas’ research interests focus on:
- the role of social cognition and non-social cognitive factors in social functioning in schizophrenia;
- investigation of the etiology and course of social deficits in schizophrenia and other serious mental illness; and
- the development of cognitive interventions to enhance executive functioning in schizophrenia.
