Genetics Research Lab
This lab utilizes cutting-edge genetic analyses to help in the assessment and treatment of mental health needs among Iraq/Afghanistan-era Veterans. The value of genetic analysis is that it may help in understanding the development of mental illness in OEF/OIF/OND returnees and of preventive measures and more effective, individual-specific treatments. The method of the Lab is to establish a database with codeable DNA and mental-illness diagnostic information. The Genetics Lab will partner with the other research labs to enhance precision and information evaluated in the topic areas. Information that might be expected would help to evaluate who might be more susceptible to the development of psychiatric disorders and how to best match treatment efforts best suited for a particular individual.Jean C.
