Getting the results of research to the right audiences is one goal of translating research into clinical practice. In the spring, affiliates from Houston and Little Rock shared the results of their research with local and national audiences.

Dr. Derrecka Boykin Presents Poster on Telehealth and Rural Veterans

Dr. Boykin presented a poster on the use of VA Video-to-Home services among rural Veterans at the National Rural Health Association Conference in San Diego. Data showed that rural Veterans are more likely to use telehealth to home for psychotherapy visits.

Dr. Sara Landes Goes to VA Research Day on the Hill

Dr. Landes was one of 25 VA researchers invited to present their latest scientific, medical, and technological advances at the second annual “VA Research Day on the Hill” in Washington, D.C. She shared her work on implementing Caring Contacts for suicide prevention in non-mental health settings.

Dr. Lindsey Martin Discusses Ethnographic Methods

Dr. Martin participated in a panel on ethnographic methods in health services and implementation research at the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting in Washington, D. C. The researchers also recorded an HSR&D podcast with VA Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI) Dissemination Coordinator Diane Hanks about the role that cultural and medical anthropologists play in improving care for Veterans.

Dr. Sacha McBain Discusses Preventing Secondary PTSD After Traumatic Injury

Dr. McBain discussed efforts to improve secondary PTSD prevention efforts following a traumatic injury at a conference for SC MIRECC, the HSR&D Center for Mental Health and Outcomes Research (CeMHOR), Behavioral Health QUERI, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Division of Health Services Research in Little Rock.
