Our Clinical Educator Grant program helps VISN 16 and 17 mental health providers create and share resources that positively impact treatment for rural and other Veterans who face barriers to care. HERO (Healthy Emotions and Improving Health Behavior Outcomes) Manuals

HERO is a participant-centered integrated behavioral health treatment to improve psychological symptoms, health behaviors, and weight management among Veterans who are obese and have coexisting emotional distress. It includes a clinician manual and Veteran workbook, has six core and two elective sessions, is personalized and accessible, and includes scripts for teaching skills.

Management of PTSD in Veterans with Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Pocket Card

This clinical decision-making tool helps VA clinicians with pharmacological management of PTSD in Veterans with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). It includes a table that describes the PTSD TRAUMA mnemonic and the symptoms of mTBI and treatment of PTSD. It also has a medication table that explains dosing and clinical considerations for comorbid PTSD/mTBI pharmacotherapy.
