Hannah L. Grigorian, Ph.D.
Dr. Hannah L. Grigorian is a Clinical Research Psychologist within the VISN1 Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC) at the VA Bedford Healthcare System. She completed her doctoral internship within the Central Western Massachusetts VA followed by a clinical research fellow at the VA Bedford Healthcare System. Her clinical work and research focusses on the improvement of relationship functioning among veterans with a particular emphasis on reducing the use of intimate partner violence. To this aim, she works to identity how substance use and co-occurring risk factors (e.g., pain, sleep, PTSD) impact the risk for intimate partner violence use as well as potential mechanisms of action to target within intervention development (e.g., impulsivity).

- The Relationship Between Mental and Physical Health and their Interacting Co-Occurrence on Veteran Relationship Conflict (PI)
Supported by MIRECC funding, the goal of this project is to survey a national Veteran sample (N = 251) to examine the relationship between co-occurring mental and physical health concerns and related psychiatric comorbidities (e.g., alcohol use, chronic pain, PTSD, and insomnia) on self-reported rates of intimate relationship conflict and priorities for help-seeking. 2023-Present. - Provider-Defined Treatment Barriers and Facilitators for Veterans with PTSD-AUD Who Use Intimate Partner Violence (PI)
Funded by the VISN 1 New England MIRECC Research Pilot Award, the goal of this project is to identify individual and system-level perspectives on treatment options, barriers, and facilitators of mental health services available for Veterans with PTSD-AUD who engage in acts of intimate partner violence and gather recommendations for intervention development. 2023-Present. - The Development of a Transdiagnostic Intervention to Improve Social Functioning and Intimate Relationships Among Veterans (PI)
The primary goal of this project is to develop an intervention to improve relationship functioning and safety among Veterans who present with co-occurring PTSD and alcohol misuse. This Career Development Award received a notice of intent to fund from Rehabilitation Research, Development and Translation (RRDT) and is anticipated to start by 10/01/2025.
