Ilan Harpaz-Rotem, Ph.D.
Dr. Ilan Harpaz-Rotem received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate Program at the New School for Social Research in New York in 2002. He then completed a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship at Yale Department of Psychiatry. He currently serves as the Director of the VISN 1 MIRECC Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment and as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. As part of his role at VA, Dr. Harpaz-Rotem serves as a Project Director at the Northeast Program Evaluation Center (NEPEC) Office of Mental Health Operations, overseeing the evaluation of all VA PTSD specialty treatment programs and of the VA Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (RRTP). At the VA Connecticut West Haven campus, he serves as a MIRECC and National Center for PTSD investigator. Dr. Harpaz-Rotem specializes in PTSD and focus on mental health service research, epidemiology of trauma-related psychopathology and its potential biological underpinnings. His work has examined a broad range of topics related to exposure to trauma including dimensional symptoms structure, treatment engagement and retention, treatment effectiveness and the neurobiology of PTSD. Dr. Harpaz-Rotem’s work was funded by grants for the NIH, VA Research & Development, and Department of Defense.
